Huawei launches smartwatches with 10-day battery life from R99 per month

Huawei launched several new devices, including the Watch Fit 4 Series, at its “Fashion Next” event in Berlin on 15 May 2025.

Huawei’s Fit models were initially rolled out as a midway option between its low-cost smart bands and higher-end smartwatches.

However, in recent years, these devices have seen their feature sets expanded substantially to offer nearly all the capabilities of the main Huawei Watch range.

The fourth generation of the Huawei Fit 4 continues to narrow the gap with one major change — a higher end Pro variant.

The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro boasts a 1.82-inch rounded rectangular AMOLED display with a 480 × 408 resolution.

This model features an ultra-slim and lightweight design, with a thickness of 9.3mm and 26g weight.

In addition to regular touch navigation, the top right of the watch’s frame has a clickable dial and a button at the bottom.

Key features include a built-in GPS, Bluetooth calling, water resistance up to 40 metres, and tracking of more than 60 health and fitness metrics.

The latter comes courtesy of Huawei’s new TruSense sensor, unveiled in August 2024.

Huawei has described this system as a “major breakthrough” in digital health monitoring.

The company said it invested heavily in optical, electrical, and material science research to ensure the TruSense sensor could handle common challenges with smartwatch-based health measurements.

These include working with different skin tones, wrist sizes, and weather conditions.

Huawei said this means basic indicators like its heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen measurement, and blood pressure tracking have been certified by authoritative industry bodies.

TruSense is capable of measuring dozens of health and fitness indicators across the circulatory, respiratory, nervous, endocrine, reproductive, and muscular systems.

In terms of sports, the Watch Fit 4 Pro is highly suited for exercise tracking of outdoor activties like trail running, golfing, and diving.

The smartwatch boasts up to 10 days of battery life on a single charge and supports regular wireless charging via the Qi standard.

That means if the user does not have their original charger on hand, they can top up the watch’s battery using other wireless chargers or reverse wireless charging on supported phones.

It comes in one of three colour options — black with black band, light gold with lime green band, and silver with light blue band.

Pricing and availability in South Africa

The more affordable Watch Fit 4 features a similar design to the Pro model.

It also inherits much of the same hardware and colour options as the higher-end model, but lacks wireless charging.

However, it will have four colour options: black, grey, purple, and white. The grey version is the only model with a cloth strap, while the rest have silicone bands.

Both smartwatches will be available through Huawei’s online store in South Africa from 2 June 2025.

The Pro model will be priced at R4,999 or R149 per month over 36 months from authorised Huawei retailers.

The more budget-friendly Watch Fit 4 will be priced at R2,999 or R99 per month over 36 months and will be available from approved Huawei retailers.
