Samsung South Africa announced on Thursday evening (18 October 2012) at an event in Cape Town that the Samsung Ativ S smartphone running Windows Phone 8 would be coming to South Africa.
The Korean electronics giant officially unveiled the device towards the end of August, just days before Nokia were set to unveil its new Lumia device, which also runs Windows Phone 8.
Samsung declined to provide further comment on the launch of the device, but a Vodacom spokesperson told MyBroadband that they plan to launch the Samsung Ativ S by the end of November 2012.
“Further information will be communicated closer to the time of launch,” Vodacom said.
Virgin Mobile SA said that they aren’t planning on ranging this phone during Q4 2012, but will review this during Q1 2013.
