Compared to prices in European countries such as the UK, Netherlands, and Germany, the cost of the iPad Mini is competitive in South Africa.
Advertised prices in the US are lower, but it’s worth keeping in mind that they exclude any form of sales tax which can vary from 0% to over 11% depending on the state and county you’re in. VAT in South Africa is 14%.
The official distributor of Apple products in South Africa, Core Group, announced on Friday (7 December 2012) that the iPad Mini would be available in South Africa “soon”.
It’s part of a slew of local Apple releases including the fourth generation iPad on the weekend of 8–9 December 2012 and the iPhone 5 on Friday, 14 December 2012.
