LG Hecto Laser Projector: Massive TV at a massive price

LG is planning to launch its Hecto Laser Projector in South Africa in June 2013. The LG laser projector, which consists of a short-throw projector and a 100-inch specialised projector screen, is set to cost around R110,000.
LG unveiled its Hecto Laser Projector in January 2013 at CES in Las Vegas. The 1080p projector is capable of creating a 100-inch screen at just 22 inches (56cm) away from its projection surface.
The device also features a digital tuner and 10w speakers built-in, with three HDMI inputs, an RS–232 port and Smart TV capabilities.
The projector carries a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio with WiFi and Miracast compatibility. LG claims the laser system will run for up to 25,000 hours without replacement.
According to an LG South Africa executive the projector and the 100-inch’ specialised screen is set to cost around R110,000. The projector alone is set to cost around R55,000, he said.
