A new 16GB model of the 5th generation iPod Touch is being sold on Apple’s online store for $229.
It fills out the ranks of Apple’s current iPod Touch line which include a 32GB model for $299 and a 64GB model for $399.
Until now only the 4th generation iPod Touch still offered lower cost models with 16GB of storage. Apple and its local distributor, Core Group, have continued to sell the 4th generation iPod Touch even after the new range was announced last year.
The 4th gen iPod Touch with 16GB storage costs R2,299 at Apple Premium Resellers such as ZAStore, iStore, and Digicape, while the 32GB model costs R2,899.
Prices for the 5th generation iPod touch in South Africa start from R3,399 for the 32GB and go up to R4,599 for the 64GB version.
