Acer Iconia A1 prices, availability in South Africa

Acer has unveiled the Acer Iconia A1, the company’s first 20.1 cm (7.9-inch) tablet. This device has a Quad Core 1.2GHz processor, and comes in 8GB or 16GB versions, running Android 4.2.2.

The Acer Iconia A1 has a 1024×768 resolution backlit display with IPS technology and a 170-degree viewing angle.

For connectivity it features Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, with integrated Bluetooth 4.0.

The Acer Iconia A1 has a 5MP rear-facing camera which can capture 1080p video at 30fps. The front-facing camera pairs with the microphone to capture video and audio for video chats and recording.

Only the Wi-Fi model will initially be available in South Africa at the following recommended retail prices (RRP):

• Acer Iconia A1 8GB WiFi – R3,499
• Acer Iconia A1 16GB WiFi – R3,999

The tablet will be available in South Africa from the beginning of August.
