Designers at German carmaker Audi have penned a futuristic virtual car for an upcoming science fiction movie.
The Fleet Shuttle Quattro displays the company’s trademark four rings and is composed entirely of computer-generated graphics. It appears in the film Ender’s Game which starts showing at German cinemas on October 24 before opening in the United States on November 1.
The movie centres on a young man who leads the world against an alien invasion. It stars Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley and Asa Butterfield.
“The Audi in (Ender’s Game) represents progress and it appears in key scenes that have a lasting impact on the life of the protagonist,” said Florian Zitzlsperger, brand partnership chief at Audi.
“This means our brand becomes a part of a fictional world.”
There are no plans for the Fleet Shuttle to go into production.
This is not Audi’s first flirt with the movies, which the firm sees an important product placement forum. Film fans will be reminded of the Audi RSQ in the 2004 film I, Robot and Audi’s contribution to the science fiction movie Tron.
