Huawei LTE MediaPad tablets, mobile WiFi, TalkBand unveiled

Huawei announced the launch of two new MediaPad tablets and a Bluetooth wristband with earpiece in a press release issued on Sunday, 23 February 2014.

In its statement, Huawei said that both tablets support Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, while its wristband is a “talk and track” companion.

Huawei MediaPad M1

The Huawei MediaPad M1 tablet PC has an 8-inch display that uses in-plane switching technology and a resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels.

It is 7.9mm think, weighs 329g, and is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and 4800mAh battery.

On the back it has a 5 megapixel (MP) camera, while the front-facing camera is 1MP.

Huawei MediaPad X1

The Huawei MediaPad X1 tablet PC has a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1200 x 1900 pixels.

It is 7.18mm thick, weighs 239g, and is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor and 5,000mAh battery which runs Android 4.2 “Jelly Bean”.

Huawei’s new tablet features a 13MP rear-facing camera that uses a Sony Exmor R back-illuminated sensor and a 5MP front-facing camera.

Huawei TalkBand B1

Huawei’s TalkBand B1 is a wristband that wirelessly tracks activity time and progress, including: steps taken, miles covered and calories burned.

It records sleep duration and quality, and includes a “smart alarm” feature for naps and assisting rest, Huawei said.

It also has a removable Bluetooth 4.1 earpiece.

The TalkBand supports Android 2.3+ and iOS 5.0+ compatible devices, and syncs via near field communications.

According to Huawei, the TalkBand B1 weighs 26g and is 14.6mm thick. The removable earpiece weighs 9.4g.

Huawei said that the TalkBand B1’s 90mAh battery lasts for six days and charges in two hours using a USB connector.

Huawei E5786 mobile Wi-Fi

Huawei also issued a press release for its new mobile Wi-Fi device, the E5786.

According to Huawei, the E5786 is the world’s first mobile Wi-Fi that supports Category 6 LTE, and is able to deliver download speeds of up to 300 Megabits per second.

It can provide connectivity for up to 10 WiFi-enabled devices, and its 3,000mAh battery offers reverse charging for smartphones, Huawei said.

Availability

Huawei said that the MediaPad X1 will be available in China, Russia, Western Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and Latin America from March 2014.

The Huawei TalkBand B1 will be available in China from March 2014; and in Japan, the Middle East, Russia and Western Europe from Q2 2014.

From Q1 2014 consumers in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, China, Japan, Asia Pacific, Australia, and Latin America will be able to buy the MediaPad M.

The Huawei E5786 comes in black and will be available in selected European markets, Australia, the Middle East and Russia from May 2014.
