Apple announced in a press release on Tuesday, 18 March 2014 that the iPad with Retina, the fourth generation iPad (or iPad 4) has replaced the iPad 2 as the company’s entry-level 9.7-inch tablet PC.

The iPad 4 is priced at $399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, and $529 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, Apple said.

It features a 9.7-inch Retina display, the Apple-designed A6X chip, 5MP rear camera, a FaceTime HD front-facing camera, and support for a number of LTE carriers (including Vodacom in South Africa).

The iPad 4 will ship with the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 7.
