New Nintendo 3DS in South Africa: launch date, prices

The New Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL will launch on 13 February 2015.

Nintendo has promised improved controls, enhanced processing power, more comfortable 3D viewing, amiibo support, and compatibility with all existing Nintendo 3DS software.

First released in Japan on 11 October 2014, the new 3DS handheld consoles controversially exclude a power adapter.

Existing 3DS owners are encouraged to re-use the AC adapter from their previous console, while new users will have to buy one separately.

In addition to the standalone systems, South Africans will also be able to get two limited edition hardware bundles: New Nintendo 3DS XL Majora’s Mask Edition, and the New Nintendo 3DS XL Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Edition.

Pre-order prices from some online retailers are summarised below.
