The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – best PlayStation 4 game ever

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on 19 May, and has already earned titles like “Game of the year contender”, and “Best RPG in years” from critics.

The game revolves around Witcher – a monster-hunter for hire – Geralt, set in the open-world environment of the Northern Realms.

Players control Geralt as he fights monsters, slays enemies, and beds beautiful women while exploring the land.

The RPG received high scores from almost all international gaming publications, and at the time of writing was sitting at 92 on Metacritic – based on reviews of the PS4 version.

Ranked the fourth best PS4 game of all time on the critic list, The Witcher 3 tops the all-time PS4 User Score rankings with a 9.

What about the PC and Xbox One version?

At the time of writing, Metacritic had noted one PC review of the game, and no reviews for the Xbox One.

While the story and thrust of the game will remain the same across platforms, the performance and visuals will differ.

PC owners who bought new Nvidia GeForce GTX graphics cards in recent months were given a free copy of the game with their purchase, and Nvidia has stated the PC version gives the best visual experience.

PS4 vs Xbox One

On the console front, Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry looked at the performance difference of the title on the PS4 and Xbox One.

They noted that the PS4’s superior 1080p resolution – Xbox One outputs 900p, both at 30fps – puts it ahead, combined with the console’s ability to render “smoother passages of play” compared the the Xbox One
