Pokémon Go could make Apple $3 billion

Industry analyst Laura Martin from Needham has said that Pokémon Go could rake in an extra $3 billion for Apple in the next 12 to 24 months, AppleInsider reported.

Martin noted that Candy Crush made over $10 billion per year for Apple in its peak years from 2013 to 2014.

Pokémon Go already has 10 times the number of players as Candy Crush, and Apple gets a share of revenue generated through in-app purchases on iOS devices.

The game is currently estimated to have 21 million players in the US.

Assuming global penetration peaks at 20% in the markets where Pokemon Go is available, and Apple makes 5 US cents per person per day, it could theoretically take in an extra $3 billion in revenue in the next two years.
