Monopoly may change its iconic pieces to Emoji and hashtags

Monopoly may replace its iconic pieces like the top hat, thimble, shoe, and race car with emoji faces and hashtags.

Monopoly, which is owned by Hasbro, has launched a website where users can vote for their favourite pieces.

The website VoteMonopoly.com has a wide range of new pieces, including a hashtag, scooter, turtle, and an emoji face.

Users can also vote for classic pieces, including the top hat, shoe, and race car.

Monopoly originated in the United States in 1903 with the aim of promoting an economy which rewards wealth creation rather than a monopolistic system.
