Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 saw record sales during Q3 of its 2016/17 financial year, Eurogamer reported.
The quarter spans October, November, and December 2016.
During the quarter, PlayStation 4 sales reached 9.7 million units – more than any previous quarter since the console’s launch.
Last year over the same period, 8.4 million PlayStation 4 units were sold. 57.1 million PlayStation 4 consoles have been sold in total.
The new Slim and Pro models of the PlayStation 4 were on sale over the period, with significant discounts on older PlayStation hardware on offer.
Sony also released a virtual reality accessory for the PlayStation during the quarter, the PlayStation VR.
