Blizzard wins $8.5 million case against cheat maker

A Californian court has granted Blizzard a judgement against Bossland, a German bot maker, reported TorrentFreak.

The ruling comes after Blizzard filed for $8.5 million in damages from Bossland for copyright infringement and selling bots that give players an advantage in Blizzard’s games.

These games included World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and Hearthstone.

Blizzard filed its case in the US after receiving a victory against Bossland in Germany. A German court stated that bots damage the game for legitimate players by providing an unfair advantage.

The Californian court awarded Blizzard a total of $8.7 million, which includes:

• Non-punitive, statutory damages – $8.5 million
• Attorneys’ fees – $174,872
• The costs of suit – $1,763
