Elon Musk’s OpenAI project has created an AI bot to play Dota 2.
The AI was shown off at the International 2017, where it played a 1v1 match against professional player Danylo “Dendi” Ishutin.
The exhibition match saw the AI beat Dendi twice, before the human player forfeited future matches against the bot.
While the bot’s gameplay in a 1v1 mid-only match was impressive, a traditional game of Dota 2 is more complex – with two teams of five playing against each other.
OpenAI’s bot also defeated a number of other professional Dota 2 players prior to its public 1v1 match, including Artour “Arteezy” Babaev and Syed “SumaiL” Sumail.
