PowerColor Debuts 6970 X2 at Computex
PowerColor has today unveiled it’s new flagship graphics card at Computex 2011, the 6970 X2. AMD had previously released a 6990 dual GPU as the flagship graphics card of the range, but it seems PowerColor wasn’t happy with it and decided to build their own high end GPU from the ground up.
The 6970 X2 card features:
- Two AMD 6970 GPU’s
- A PCB that is taller and slightly short than that of the 6990
- A dual slot cooler complete with two fans
- A PCI bridge chip
- 3072 Stream processors
- A 880MHZ with a 2 x 256-bit memory interface
- 4GB’s of GDDR5 VRAM running at 5500MHZ
- Dual DVI, dual DisplayPort and HDMI outputs
- power requirements of 3 x 8 pin PCIe power connectors
No pricing informations or release date was mentioned at the event, and performance figures were absent. It seems we’ll have to wait a bit longer before we can compare this 6970 X2 with the AMD 6990 and Nvidia GTX590.
