VS Gaming’s R1.5-million FIFA tournament – Photos

VS Gaming recently signed a rights agreement with EA Sports to host a FIFA eWorld Cup Qualifier, which took place at Montecasino on 5-6 May 2018.

1,024 players competed for a prize pool of R1.5 million across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the winners selected to represent South Africa at the Global Series Playoffs in August 2018.

The number of competitors makes the VS Gaming FIFA 2018 tournament the largest FIFA gaming tournament on the continent.

The prize pool for each platform was allocated as follows:

  • 1st place – R400,000
  • 2nd place – R150,000
  • 3rd place – R75,000
  • 4th place – R30,000
  • 5th-8th place – R15,000
  • 9th-16th place – R5,000

The event also featured various activities and showcases, including VR gaming booths, PC hardware, interactive gaming setups, and live music performances.

Xbox One

  • 1st: Shiaan Rugbeer
  • 2nd: Irshaad Mahomed
  • 3rd: Abu Akhalwaya
  • 4th: Khalid Fakie

PlayStation 4

  • 1st: Thabo Mike Moloi
  • 2nd: Zuhair Ebrahim
  • 3rd: Ziyadh Caasim
  • 4th: Mohammed Fiaz Mahomed
