Nintendo is set to release a new Switch in 2019, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
Engadget covered the report, which stated that a revised version of the Switch – with the possibility of an OLED display instead of an LCD – is coming next year.
The move is aimed at keeping up the sales momentum of the Switch, which has performed well since its launch.
The report added that the upgrade to the Switch would follow similar moves by Sony and Microsoft with their respective PS4-to-PS4 Pro and Xbox One-to-Xbox One X console upgrades.
What separates the Switch from the PlayStation and Xbox, however, is its ability to be used as a handheld console and a traditional gaming set-up connected to a TV.
