World Electronic Sports Games qualifiers to be held in South Africa

Mettlestate has announced that World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) official qualifiers will be held in South Africa.

WESG is one of the biggest international esports championships in the world, and includes a prize pool of $5.5 million.

Mettlestate has signed a 3-year deal with WESG, confirming their position as the official South African liaison for WESG.

Barry Louzada, cofounder of Mettlestate, is looking forward to how this partnership with WESG will further develop esports in South Africa.

“Access to international tournaments for South Africans have always been rare opportunities – and ones that are sorely needed if we want to get international experience and recognition,” said Louzada.

For the African qualifiers there will be $5,000 up for grabs:

  • $2,000 to the first place winners in Dota 2
  • $2,000 to the first place winners in CS:GO
  • $500 to the Hearthstone winner
  • $500 to the StarCraft 2 winner

In addition to that, winners will also receive flights and accommodation to China for the WESG finals in March 2019.

More information on how to register for the qualifiers, visit the tournament’s website. Registration is open from today, and closes on 9 November 2018.
