PC gaming is still king in South Africa, according to the results of the MyBroadband 2019 Gaming Survey.
1,787 readers took part in the survey, the majority of whom worked in the ICT sector or were tech-savvy individuals.
When it comes to gaming, PC was by far the most popular platform. The PlayStation 4 came in a distant second place.
Other interesting findings included the fact that 64% of gamers said they played both online and offline games, while 13% played only online games.

How often do you game?
The majority (51%) of respondents said they played games every day.
Only 6% of respondents said they did not play games.
Which is your main gaming platform?
PC was by far the most popular primary gaming platform, with PlayStation 4 in second place.
Interestingly, Mobile as a platform garnered 10% of responses.
Desktop or Laptop?
Of the respondents who stated that PC was their primary gaming platform, 82% said they game on a desktop.
The remaining 18% of respondents said they played games on a laptop.
Spending
Respondents were also asked how much they spend per month, on average, of hardware and software for gaming.
27% of respondents said they spent between R500 to R1,000 per month, while 7% spent R1,000 to R2,000 per month.
At the top end, 3% of gamers stated that they spend over R2,000 per month on gaming.
