Great gaming monitors you can buy for under R4,000

South Africans interested in buying a good gaming monitor can get one for less than R4,000.

MyBroadband looked for the best gaming monitors available to South Africans for less than R4,000 and found five excellent options.

These monitors were sourced from leading online retailers and tech shops, including Evetech, Wootware, and Takealot, and all meet or exceed the baseline specifications needed for satisfying gaming.

This includes 1920×1080 resolutions and at least 60hz refresh rates.

Most of the selection includes options with much higher refresh rates suitable for fast-paced experiences where reaction speed is essential for success.

This includes games in genres such as first-person shooters or spectacle fighters, where the slightest delay can be the difference between victory and defeat.

Additionally, those with more powerful systems might find that a lower refresh rate screen could be bottlenecking visual performance.

This is because even if your PC can run the games at a higher fidelity, a lower refresh rate screen will be unable to fully capitalise on this.

The options with higher refresh rates include the LG UltraGear with a 144Hz refresh rate and the ViewSonic Omni VX2428 with a 180Hz refresh rate.

The VX2428 also has a 0.5ms response time.

It should be noted that all five listed monitors have 24-inch display sizes and come with either VA or IPS panel technology.

Four of the panels also come equipped with AMD Free-Sync, with the outlier being the AOC 24G15N with Adaptive Sync.

Free-Sync and Adaptive Sync are essential for consistent visuals, as they eliminate screen tearing, stuttering, and input latency by synchronising the display’s framerate with a compatible GPU’s capability.

In terms of compatibility, Free-Sync works with all AMD Radeon GPUs, beginning with the Rx 200 series, and Adaptive Sync will work with most GPUs that support syncing technologies like G-Sync or Free-Sync.
