British gaming company Ladbrokes is taking bets on a wide range of technology events, including whether Google’s self-driving car to be used legally within Europe or the US before 2025.

According to Buzzfeed, they contacted Alex Donohue at Ladbrokes “to come up with some wagers for ten of the most hyped moonshots”.

“The method Donohue uses combines quantitative and qualitative factors and an all-important gut feel,” the site stated.

Here are the “Technology Specials” from Ladbrokes which people can bet on, ordered by the likelihood of it happening.

  • Google’s self-driving car to be used legally within Europe/The US before 2025 – 1/2
  • Smart watches listed as a major consumer category and to sell 100mn units worldwide in any year before 2020 – 3/1
  • Google to achieve 75%+ global land coverage by 2020 – 4/1
  • Google to release commercial bipedal or quadrupedal robots before 2020 – 6/1
  • Facebook to achieve 75%+ global land coverage by 2020 – 8/1
  • Oculus Rift to be the dominate video game console by 2020 – 8/1
  • Amazon to deliver the majority of their inventory by drone worldwide before 2020 – 20/1
  • Google’s self-driving car to be the dominant form of automobile in Europe/The US before 2025 – 25/1
  • Google Glass to ship more units worldwide than the newest iPhone in any year running up to 2020 – 100/1

Ladbrokes suspended betting on “BitCoin to account for more of world GDP than the £/$ by 2015”.
