Black Friday 2017 is coming and is set to take place on 24 November.
The annual day sees companies slashing prices on all their goods, offering big discounts. Sales normally start the week of Black Friday, with the main specials on the day.
Despite working in the tech space and loving a good gadget deal, I was in a retail store last weekend looking at TVs and trying to decide which one to buy.
It took a comment from my better half to stop me from missing out on big savings.
“Aren’t there good deals on Black Friday? That’s soon, isn’t it?” she said.
Thank goodness for the reminder, as I would have kicked myself for buying a new display a couple weeks before the biggest shopping day of the year.
Several international retailers have already launched their Black Friday sales, with Amazon leading the pack.
Amazon opened its Black Friday Deals Store on 1 November, marking the start of its holiday shopping season.
The store offers deals across every category, from now through Black Friday.
South African retailers are sure to join the party, so keep an eye out for big sales during the month.
For those who only want a great tech deal, you get a second bite at the cherry on Monday, 27 November.
The Monday after Black Friday is known as Cyber Monday – with many retailers offering big discounts on tech goods and encouraging users to shop online.
So hang on to your wallets for now and start putting a few pennies aside – Black Friday is coming.
