South Africa’s digital technologies department is hiring — and paying up to R1 million

South Africa’s Department of Communications and Digital Technologies is advertising six positions, with annual salaries ranging from R468,000 to R1.06 million.
Positions listed include several deputy and assistant director roles for various sectors within the department.
Applicants must submit their application via a Z83 Form, and only emailed applications will be considered.
The department said applicants must send their forms, quoting the relevant reference number, to [email protected].
“Shortlisted applicants will be required to submit certified copies of all qualifications obtained and will be subjected to verification by the South African Qualifications Authority,” the department says.
“All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to personnel suitability checks, including social media checks, and the successful candidate will have to undergo a full security vetting.”
Those with foreign qualifications must include an evaluation certificate from the qualifications authority.
“Failure to submit the requested documents will result in your application not being considered further,” the department adds.
Successful applicants must disclose particulars of all registrable financial interests.
“A Performance Agreement must be concluded and signed within three months from the date of assumption of duty,” the department says.
Applications close on 13 June 2025. The top-paying positions listed include three deputy director positions related to Audio Visual Media Copyrights and Sustainability, PostBank, and the Post Office.
All three of these positions pay an annual salary of R1,059,105.
The next-highest paying position is also a deputy director. However, this role relates to logistics surrounding payments and orders and pays R896,436 per annum.
The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies also advertised two assistant director positions, paying R468,459 per annum.
The first will be the assistant director of the department’s IT service desk, while the other assistant director position relates to loss control and basic accounting system (BAS) control.
