SageMicro plans to launch 8TB SSD

Sage Microelectronics (SageMicro) has announced it is planning to launch an 8TB solid-state drive in November.

What sets the SageMicro SSD apart from its competitors is that it uses embedded MultiMediaCard technology (eMMC) – the dense flash storage typically used in smartphones.

Computerworld reported that SageMicro is planning to break into the US market with the new 8TB eMMC SSD.

SageMicro already offers a 2.5-inch 5TB SSD, and other memory products like SD cards and NAND flash memory controllers.
