Buying a PC makes no sense: Apple CEO

Apple CEO Tim Cook has taken aim at the PC market, specifically the Microsoft Surface Book, as part of its iPad Pro promotion interviews.

Hot Hardware reported that Cook questioned whether buying a PC makes sense. “Why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?” Cook asked.

Cook also took aim at the new Microsoft Surface Book, which he said “tries too hard to do too much”.

He said it is “trying to be a tablet and a notebook and it really succeeds at being neither”, and that it is “sort of deluded”.

Microsoft unveiled its Surface Book in October, and it is seen as a competitor to Apple’s MacBook range of devices.

It boasts a 13.5″ 3,000 × 2, 000 display in a magnesium case, with can detach from its base.

The base contains an Nvidia graphics accelerator, a backlit keyboard, a glass trackpad, two USB 3.0 ports, an SD card slot, and a Mini Displayport connector.

Processing is taken care of by Intel’s new Core i5 and Core i7 Skylake CPUs, with Microsoft stating that the device is the “fastest 13-inch laptop ever made” – twice as fast as the MacBook Pro.
