New DisplayPort standard will screen 8K at 60Hz

The Video Electronics Standards Association has published the latest version of the DisplayPort standard – version 1.4.
The new version focuses on lossless compression and “leveraging new connection methods like USB Type-C”, stated Engadget.
8K resolutions displayed at 60Hz with HDR, and 4K at 120Hz with HDR – both over USB – will be possible with the new standard.
“VESA says that the new version of its Display Stream Compression is visually lossless now and there’s bandwidth for 32 audio channels and ultra-high sampling rates,” said Engadget.
