Stampede 2 supercomputer to provide 18 Petaflops of power

The National Science Foundation announced a $30-million award to the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) to acquire and deploy a new large-scale supercomputing system, Stampede 2.

Stampede 2 will provide high-performance computing capabilities to thousands of researchers across the U.S.

Stampede 2 will deliver a peak performance of up to 18 Petaflops – twice the system performance of the current Stampede system.

The supercomputer will be deployed by TACC in conjunction with partners Dell, Intel, and Seagate Technology.
