HP Elite Slice modular PC unveiled
HP has unveiled its Elite Slice desktop – a small, modular commercial desktop with a wireless design.
The Elite Slice has a form factor of 16.5cm x 3.3cm x 16.5cm, weighs 1.04kg, and offers stackable modules – such as the Audio Module or Optical Disk Drive Module.
The wireless design allows for a clean work environment, said HP, with the device powered from a display via a USB 3.1 Type-C cable.
Users can choose different covers when configuring the PC and expand the device with additional modules. The covers are:
- HP Collaboration Cover: turns the desktop into a Microsoft Skype for Business phone.
- HP Wireless Charging Cover: wireless charging starts automatically upon contact.
- HP Audio Module: spoken word tuning makes call experiences crisp and clear with audio tuned by Bang & Olufsen.
- HP ODD Module: back up or archive files and access legacy content on CDs or DVDs.
Other features include:
- An optional fingerprint sensor.
- HP Sure Start with Dynamic Protection, a self-healing BIOS-level protection.
- 6th Generation Intel Core i7.
- 360-degree dual fan pipe ring for cooling.
- Ethernet port, Wi-Fi, HDMI and DisplayPort adapters.
The HP Elite Slice starts from $699 and is expected to be available in September.
