Microsoft paying people $650 to trade MacBooks for a Surface Book

Microsoft said it will pay up to $650 (R9,057) to anyone who “trades up” a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air for a Surface Book or Surface Pro, Cnet reported.

The offer starts today and is available through the Microsoft Store and Microsoft.com, according to the report.

News of the offer comes after Microsoft unveiled an upgraded version of its Surface Book and a new desktop PC – the Surface Studio – yesterday.

Aimed at the creative industry, the Surface Studio competes against Apple’s iMac, while the Surface Book goes head-to-head with the MacBook.

Pre-orders for the new Surface Book and Surface Studio are open.

  • Surface Book i7: $2,399 (R33,359), launching in November.
  • Surface Studio: $2,999 (R41,643), launching “this holiday season”.
