MacBook Pro refresh in 2017 may include 32GB RAM
A new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple will cut the price of the new MacBook Pro and refresh the product line in 2017, MacRumors reported.
Kuo said Apple tends to set higher prices on major new product releases like the original MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, usually dropping prices in the following year.
He therefore expects the prices of the new MacBook Pro range to come down in the second half of 2017.
Kuo also predicted that if Intel’s Cannonlake processors launch in time, Apple will launch a refreshed MacBook Pro range with support for 32GB of RAM in the second half of 2017.
Should Cannonlake not be available, Kuo said Apple will use Coffee Lake for the MacBook Pro refresh and the maximum RAM support will remain unchanged.
This is because Cannonlake features 15-25% less power consumption on LPDDR4, versus the existing LPDDR3 which will be used in Coffee Lake.
