iPad 2 event speculation

Apple have invited media to an event to be held in San Francisco on 2 March 2011 and according to a number of media reports it is expected that an announcement regarding the new iPad will be made.

The iPad is a tablet computer released by Apple in the United States during April 2010 which has left other technology companies scrambling to launch competing devices.

There is much speculation about the improvements the updated version of Apple’s iPad will enjoy, though it is generally accepted that the device will be thinner and lighter and will include at least a front-facing camera for Apple’s Facetime video chat.

According to the reports, the event is to be held in the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco, which MacRumors.com reports is already being prepared.

This comes amid rumours that the next iterations of the iPad, and iPhone would be delayed from launching on the dates that industry and the media expect them to launch, based on Apple’s regular release cycles.

Apple has not yet announced launch dates for the next iPad, which is currently being called the iPad 2 by most media, or the iPhone 5.
