Apple designing new chip for MacBooks
A report by Bloomberg suggests that Apple is designing a new chip for future MacBooks that would take on more of the functionality currently handled by Intel processors.
According to the report, the new Apple-designed chip went into development last year and resembles the chip in the latest MacBook Pro which powers the laptop’s Touch Bar.
“The updated part, internally codenamed T310, would handle some of the computer’s low-power-mode functionality,” said Bloomberg.
The chip makes use of ARM technology and will not replace the Intel processor in the laptop.
