Intel sets aside $300 million for Ultrabooks

Intel considers the Ultrabook the next big thing in the tech world, which is why they have set aside $300 million in a fund to help the Ultrabook succeed.

According to Intel, and Ultrabook is a device similar to a Macbook air. It is extremely thin and light, comes standard with an SSD, has powerful internal hardware and good battery life.

In a press release regarding the announcement, Intel said that they will, “invest in companies building hardware and software technologies focused on enhancing how people interact with Ultrabooks such as through sensors and touch, achieving all day usage through longer battery life, enabling innovative physical designs and improved storage capacity.”

Intel plans for the Ultrabook to be the next “must have” device, though they will have to employ an aggressive pricing structure if they are able to rival the Macbook air. At present notebooks that fit into the Ultrabook price range such as the Samsung Series 9 and the upcoming Asus UX21 will cost more than $1,000.
