Logitech, Carl Zeiss announce collaboration
Logitech, a manufacturer of webcams, and Carl Zeiss, have announced a collaboration aiming to deliver improved image quality for video calling and sharing.
Carl Zeiss's relationship with Logitech is said to mark a significant step in the development of webcam optics. Carl Zeiss has been driving optical innovation since the earliest days of photography, and Logitech released its first webcam in 1995.
The first webcams designed in collaboration with Carl Zeiss – the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 and the Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks – are expected to be available in SA in September for a suggested retail price of R1199.
"Image quality is only as good as the lens that captures the image," says Dr Winfried Scherle, GM of the Carl Zeiss Camera Lens division.
"Since 1846, when Carl Zeiss set up his workshop, our company has been driving the science of optics. Today, we design optics ranging from eyeglass lenses to space optics.”
