Top 5 Ultrabooks: Techradar and T3
As happens around Christmas time, tech sites the world released their “best of” and “holiday buy” lists, advising shoppers of the best way to spend their hard-earned bonuses on gadgetry.
TechRadar and T3 both put together solid lists of the so-called “best” ultrabooks of 2012 and a cross-referencing of the two line-ups yielded five PCs the two agreed on.
Neither publication included Apple laptops in their lists, explaining that Ultrabooks are a breed of laptops that compete with the likes of the MacBook Air, but aren’t made by Apple.
The definition of the term “ultrabook” can be contentious as one way to view it is the proper noun “Ultrabook” as defined by Intel, for which the chip giant has applied to register as a trademark.
Another definition uses the term as a common noun to describe notebooks with 11-inch to 14-inch displays that are lightweight, yet powerful.
Regardless of the definition you prefer, the MacBook Air is included in ultrabook lists, whether implicitly as the device everyone is competing with, or explicitly as just another contender.
