ShowMax is adding another week to its free trial, taking the total trial period to 14 days. The idea behind the change is to give prospective customers an extended test drive of the largest subscription video catalogue in Africa.
The two week free trial period is valid for all first-time subscribers to the service. Users already in their 7-day trial will have their period extended to 14 days
It’s possible to subscribe to ShowMax in one of two ways on the website – by either filling in customer details or signing up with Facebook.
Once signed up, the 14 day trial period commences.
Who qualifies for the 14-day trial?
To qualify for a free trial, payment details need to be new to the system and not have been used to pay for a subscription on another ShowMax account.
It’s not possible to access the free trial using pre-paid vouchers, but customers wanting to test ShowMax before buying a voucher can always go the credit card free trial route first and just cancel before the end of the 14 day period.
What happens if I cancel?
The trial can be cancelled at any time, simply sign in at showmax.com, select My Account, select Manage subscription, select Cancel subscription.
As long as this is done before the 14 days are up there’s no charge to the customer’s account.
Customers will continue to have access to ShowMax for the remainder of the trial period. Once 14 days are up, access will be revoked and there will be no charge.
The monthly subscription fee will be deducted from the payment details on record once the free trial period has finished.
If someone has an active subscription and wants to cancel, there’s no need to set a calendar reminder to do this at the end of the month.
Instead, simply cancel at any point and the account will automatically be deactivated once the full month’s subscription has run out.
The subscription will continue on a month-to-month basis until the agreement is ended.
