South Africa’s top IT and telecommunications companies have increased their online advertising budgets – with excellent results.
MyBroadband’s latest data shows strong growth in advertising campaigns on its platforms from ICT companies.
The most popular products in 2021 included sponsored articles, social media promotions, display banners, homepage takeovers, and online videos.
This growth in online advertising in 2021 is to be expected.
Companies are looking for the best return on investment in an economic downturn, and online marketing offers by far the best results.
Nielsen’s Media ROI Benchmarks report for South Africa showed that digital advertising easily outperforms TV, print, cinema, radio, and billboards.
For every R1.00 spent on digital advertising, companies receive a R2.30 return on investment. This is much higher than print (R1.35), TV (R1.30), billboards (R1.25) and radio (R0.85).
South African ICT companies are well aware of the value of online advertising.
A survey by MyBroadband showed that 83% of local companies are prioritising online and digital during the lockdown. Most companies said they had also increased their online spending.
MyBroadband Sales and Marketing director Cara Muller said that as a result, the have had run a record number of online campaigns in 2021.
“These digital marketing campaigns are showing exceptional results, with record levels of engagement,” said Muller.
