Absa launches ChatWallet – Make and receive payments seamlessly using WhatsApp
Absa has launched a new way to easily transact through WhatsApp – and it’s called ChatWallet.
Within a simple chat on WhatsApp, ChatWallet allows South Africans pay, receive, store, and manage their money with ease.
To access ChatWallet, you must be 18 years old, have a valid South African cellular number linked to a WhatsApp account, and have a smartphone with a front-facing camera.
Benefits of ChatWallet
ChatWallet uses cutting-edge technology to provide South Africans with a seamless user experience through WhatsApp.
To get started, all you need to do is WhatsApp “Hi” to 086 000 2428.
Once set up, ChatWallet looks like any other chat – with the added security of a PIN or biometric authentication to keep your money safe.
This makes it quick and easy to transact while you are chatting with friends and family.
If a family member needs you to send them money, for example, they call tell you over WhatsApp and you can then use ChatWallet to make the payment to them immediately.
You can also receive up to R25,000 in payments via ChatWallet, store funds, purchase electricity, airtime, and data, and access a wide range of free banking services – including ATM cash deposits.
ChatWallet offers the lowest pay-as-you-transact costs for services like payment to a cellular number, CashSend to self-ATM withdrawal, and EFT payments to a bank account.
ChatWallet is for all
ChatWallet has been designed to create inclusive access to quality banking services for all South Africans.
“ChatWallet revolutionises financial accessibility with a comprehensive suite of services,” said Nick Nkosi, Managing Executive for Transactional Banking and Absa Everyday Banking.
“It empowers users to effortlessly send and receive payments, make airtime and data purchases, manage beneficiaries, and conduct seamless cash withdrawals and deposits.”
This strengthens financial inclusion for all South Africans by enhancing access to digital banking services and empowering customers.
“It’s not just a wallet; it’s your all-in-one solution for hassle-free and versatile banking on the go”, said Nkosi.
