Boston IT Solutions South Africa hosts Technology Innovation Day to highlight key cloud and data centre trends

Boston IT Solutions South Africa held its annual Technology Innovation Day on 5 September at the BMW xDrive Park in Midrand.
The event was attended by a wide range of ICT decision-makers in the financial sector and partners of the company, and featured two notable guest speakers – Chief Economist of Efficient Group Dawie Roodt, and Associate Professor at UFS Johan Coetzee.
Roodt gave a presentation focused on the evolution of the South African economy, noting how the economy is no longer exclusively financial and covers a wide range of social and business elements.
Professor Coetzee outlined key financial industry shifts in his presentation, focusing on customer interaction and loyalty among younger generations who have different views of banking.
Attendees were then treated to several technical presentations from Boston IT Solutions South Africa and its partners.
Dr Angus Hay, Regional Executive for Africa Data Centres, delivered a customer testimonial.
Dr Hay highlighted how, in recent years, Africa Data Centres has been aggressively expanding its facilities to accommodate the needs of its clients.
He explained that these clients require more storage space, computing power, and better security for their critical data.
Chris Coetzee, Business Director at Boston IT Solutions South Africa, then unpacked the company’s impressive service offerings – including progression-as-a-service, data centre and rack design, and rack and roll.
Coetzee also emphasized the company’s global reach, stellar track record, and focus on
sustainability.
After Coetzee’s presentation, there were talks from each of the event’s major sponsors: Supermicro, Virtuozzo, and H3C.
Supermicro – Wynand Moller
He outlined the company’s impressive global coverage and the paradigm shift his team has noted in the data centre and data storage industries.
This includes the transition to cloud computing in the 2000s and the rise of Gen AI and liquid cooling in 2023.
Virtuozzo – Andrew Mason
He discussed the company’s huge local success, which has been supported by Boston IT Solutions South Africa.
Mason also highlighted Virtuozzo’s growth over the past 20 years, its alternative solutions to hyperscale and legacy platforms, and its extensive enterprise IT technology stack.
H3C – Marc van der Poll
Marc van der Poll is a Solutions Architect at H3C.
He provided an in-depth look at digital financial trends and the finance industry’s top challenges.
He also unpacked H3C’s digital financial solutions and the systems they use to support their clients – including the Unified Multi-Domain Network Management System and intelligent operational analysis.
Radware – Practical demonstration
Radware closed the event with a demonstration of its data protection services.
It showed attendees how its systems can handle and respond to intense denial-of-service attacks.
