Level up your gaming with the Hisense PX3-Pro Laser Cinema – Hands-on review
The Hisense PX3-Pro Laser Cinema is a game-changer for anyone serious about gaming and home entertainment.
This was our finding after Hisense sent us its latest Laser Cinema for review.
The PX3-Pro offers sharp and vivid imagery, smooth visuals, and second-to-none brightness that combine to produce an unmatched viewing experience across all content.
This is powered by the latest innovations in laser projection technology, courtesy of Hisense’s innovative ultra-short-throw projection technology.
Unlike traditional projectors, which deliver sub-par image quality and require a dedicated “screen” to work properly, the PX3-Pro Laser Cinema delivers a picture that is just as sharp and bright as a TV, and can be projected onto any plain wall.
This marks a new revolution in short-throw technology – comparable to how the first smartphone revolutionised the telephone industry.
A key use case for this exciting, next-generation technology is gaming.
Hisense has prioritised this in the PX3-Pro by partnering with Microsoft to certify it as the world’s first “Designed for Xbox Limited Series” ultra-short-throw projector.
Thanks to its wealth of certified gaming-focused features, the PX3-Pro delivers true-to-life colour and immersive action when playing the latest games.
We detail our experience testing the PX3-Pro Laser Cinema, below.
Easy setup
The Hisense PX3-Pro uses an incredibly bright 3,000-lumen proprietary LPU digital laser engine that doesn’t require a projection screen.
This is hugely valuable for your home, as when you aren’t watching your favourite shows and movies, you don’t have a big TV taking up space in your living room.
Instead, Hisense’s innovative unit takes up a small amount of space on any counter or table, and thanks to the incredible ultra-short-throw technology, the PX3-Pro can be positioned between 11.9cm and 46cm from a wall.
An 11.9cm distance produced an 80-inch display, while the maximum 150-inch display is achievable by placing the PX3-Pro 46cm from a wall.
After straightening and aligning the image using the built-in auto-correction feature, we had a massive display spanning an impressive 150 inches – roughly 3.3m x 1.8m.
A gamer’s dream
There is something special about gaming on a 150-inch display, especially when it is so bright, smooth, and responsive.
Hisense equipped the PX3-Pro with multiple technologies to ensure an exceptional gaming experience and justify its “Designed for Xbox” certification.
Highlights include an impressive 240Hz refresh rate, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), a 6ms response time, and Motion Estimation Motion Compensation (MEMC) technology.
We connected our Xbox to put these features to the test – and the PX3-Pro delivered.
The 240Hz refresh rate and MEMC worked together to produce an ultra-fluid visual experience that was excellent for fast-paced games, making the most intense action sequences run smoothly.
The 6ms response time and ALLM then ensured the experience was incredibly responsive, making the PX3-Pro ideal for games of all genres.
In high-octane first-person shooters like Halo Infinite and XDefiant, these technologies delivered exceptional clarity and fluid visuals – even with Master Chief’s rapid movements.
Racing game Forza Horizon 5, which is known for its stunning visuals and fast-paced action, looked equally impressive – with no motion blur or stuttering at top speeds through sharp bends.
Switching to a sports game like FC24, the PX3-Pro enabled precise control and a responsive feel that enhanced the realism and our enjoyment.
Across all the games we played, the PX3-Pro produced outstanding visuals and performance.
Movie magic
It isn’t only games that look great on the PX3-Pro – with movies and series displayed in crisp, vibrant, and breathtaking details.
In our testing, the PX3-Pro’s 4K resolution and 3,000-lumen brightness ensured crystal-clear viewing across a wide variety of content.
The colours were incredibly accurate, too, thanks to the 110% BT.2020 colour gamut and Dolby Vision support – while HDR certification ensured superior contrasts, deep blacks, bright whites, and rich views.
The PX3-Pro’s HDR support includes HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, helping it to earn the IMAX Enhanced badge.
This is the ultimate accolade for movie-focused TVs.
When combined with its built-in Harman Kardon speakers and Dolby Atmos support, the PX3-Pro is truly the ultimate home theatre system for those who want a cinema experience in their lounge.
Verdict
The PX3-Pro is a must-have for serious gamers and entertainment enthusiasts – providing an all-in-one package that delivers a massive display and powerful sound at the touch of a button.
Our experience is that laser short-throw projectors let us cast a cinematic universe onto our wall without turning our living room into a tech warehouse.
