How MTN keeps businesses running smoothly in South Africa

Dr Megan Vercueil, Head of Enterprise Mobility at MTN South Africa

MTN is committed to delivering world-class connectivity and mobility services that ensure businesses remain online – anywhere and at any time.

This always-on connectivity has become a necessity when conducting business in 2025, as modern businesses expect their mobile devices to have stable and fast Internet access, 24/7.

“At MTN, we believe that when you have your smartphone in your hand, that should mean that your business is switched on,” said Dr Megan Vercueil, Head of Enterprise Mobility at MTN South Africa.

“We know that there is a massive expectation that mobile Internet should always work, and have invested heavily in ensuring that this is the case.”

Vercueil explained that MTN has focused on growing its connectivity infrastructure to ensure its network remains accessible – even during challenging periods like load-shedding.

“Even when the power is out, our clients expect network connectivity – it is just how things work in 2025,” she said.

“It takes a lot of foresight and planning to factor in all possibilities when running a mobile network – but it is something we take great pride in doing.”

People come first

Vercueil explained that MTN is so focused on being the industry leader in mobile connectivity because it believes the customer should always come first.

In fact, this is MTN’s primary focus across every area of its business – from how it runs its infrastructure, to how it interacts with and supports its customers.

“We always recognise that there’s a human in the loop,” said Vercueil.

“So for our large accounts, we always ensure there is an account manager dedicated to the client who can help them with whatever they need – from contracts, to devices, to managing their systems.”

She noted that in the modern workplace, many businesses want the option to digitally self-service themselves, too – so MTN offers portals that provide this functionality.

“If you want to use a digital self-service platform, we enable you to do that. But we do not forget that our clients often want to see a real face, so we offer both choices depending on your preferences,” said Vercueil.

In all cases, MTN understands that while the technology is important, the people using the technology are even more important – meaning MTN focuses on delivering the ideal solutions on a per-client basis.

The MTN advantage

As MTN continues to evolve from being a Telco to a TechCo, and offering an increasing range of business-focused ICT services, the company will never forget what sits at the heart of all its offerings – world-class connectivity services.

It considers it a privilege to provide the connectivity services that power the businesses of millions of South Africans.

As a result, it will not slow down the continuous evolution of its mobile networking services, instead ensuring each client enjoys world-class connectivity throughout the workday.

Wherever you go, MTN goes with you, and ensures your business is switched on.
