MTN customers are now able to subscribe to Simfy Africa’s “Premium Plus” streaming music service for R49 per month, the network announced in a press release on Wednesday, 4 June 2014.

The Simfy Africa “Premium Plus” subscription, which usually costs R60/month, includes mobile and offline streaming in addition to the web and desktop streaming offered by the R25/month “Premium” option.

Subscribers can opt to have the fee billed directly to their cellphone account.

News of the discount first emerged last week, when MTN confirmed in responses to questions about the offer that it had such a deal in the works.

To make use of the discount, MTN said that subscribers need to register on their website and download the Simfy Africa application from either the Android, iOS, or Blackberry stores, or use the Simfy desktop or web player.

“This follows the recent announcement that MTN is providing its customers with free WeChat streaming to the CliffCentral unradio radio station,” said Mike Fairon, general manager for products and solutions at MTN SA. “It is further testament to how MTN is identifying strategic partnerships with content providers that are able to enrich the lives of its customers.”
