Facebook down
Facebook started experiencing downtime shortly after 08:00 on 27 January. The cause of the downtime remains unknown.
Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, also experienced downtime.
Many Facebook users complained about the downtime on platforms like Twitter, using the hashtag #facebookdown.
According to DownDetector, which detects when services go down or have outages, Facebook was “having issues since 8:18 AM”.
A report on The Next Web stated that the outage started at around 08:10 – slightly earlier than the DownDetector report.
Engadget reported that in addition to Facebook and Instagram, Tinder, AIM, and Hipchat also appeared to be offline.
