Dive Loch Ness with Google Maps

Google Loch Ness underwater street view

On the anniversary of the 1931 “Surgeon’s Photograph” of the Loch Ness Monster (aka Nessie), Google has unveiled an “underwater street view” of Loch Ness.

Collected with the assistance of Catlin Seaview Survey, Google said its partners dove deep under the surface of the lake to collect the imagery.

“You can imagine Nessie nestling within these dark, peat-filled waters, waiting for the right moment to breach the surface into the Scottish sunlight above,” said Google’s Sven Tresp.

A look at some of the images collected shows that a dive in Loch Ness quickly gets terrifyingly dark.

While this may not make for an entertaining search for Nessie, it does offer a brief look underwater along with shots of the beautiful landscape surrounding the famous loch.
