AdBlock Plus gets special independent board

AdBlock Plus has announced it is getting a 100% independent board to decide what’s acceptable in online advertising.
The online ad blocking service already allows companies to pay to let their ads show, and it also allows “acceptable ads” to be shown for free.
Till Faida, co-founder of Adblock Plus, said the Acceptable Ads programme has been managed in an open and public forum.
“Users determined the original criteria and can object in our forum to whitelisting proposals, but since we were the only ad blocker to offer such a compromise we have taken on a large role in the day-to-day maintenance of the criteria,” said Faida.
“We have been looking for a way to make the Acceptable Ads programme completely independent while also updating the criteria to evolve with changing forms of online advertising.”
