How to get a looping video Facebook profile picture

Facebook is rolling out a new update to its mobile users, which allows them to use animated GIF-like profile pictures.

According to a report by Wired, users can check if the feature is available to them by opening their mobile app – limited to iOS users initially – and selecting the More tab.

The user must then select their profile.

“If you have the new creative suite, you’ll notice your profile picture sitting in the middle of the page,” said the report.

There will be a prompt asking to add a new bio – select Edit and change if desired. To get the looping video profile picture, the user must select the flashing icon between the camera and video symbol on the profile picture.

Once this has been selected, a 7-second video can be uploaded. The new profile picture can only be edited via the mobile app, but is viewable across all Facebook platforms.
