How Twitter’s new timeline will work
Twitter will introduce a new algorithmic timeline to users, which will see tweets appear in a “Facebook-style” feed.
According to a report by The Verge, the new timeline will not present tweets in chronological order.
“The algorithm that will re-order your timeline is based on the one that ranks tweets for the “while you were away” feature that Twitter introduced a year ago,” sated the report.
The new timeline will show the most popular posts first, and if users refresh the stream, it will return to a chronologically-ordered feed.
“This will be the new Twitter by default – but you will be allowed to opt out of the new timeline.”
