Help Jacob Zuma pay back the money for Nkandla

A campaign on Generosity – a “platform for human goodness” run by Indiegogo – is asking South Africans to help President Jacob Zuma pay back the money he owes for upgrades to his Nkandla homestead.

Help Zuma Pay Back The Money aims to raise $1,000,000 (±R14.7 million) to assist Zuma after an order by the Constitutional Court stated that the National Assembly must determine “the reasonable costs that Zuma must pay for the upgrades”.

“Please help us to raise as much money as possible for him, because it’s not like there are any other people, or families, that could help him maintain his moderate lifestyle,” stated the campaign.

“We want to raise as much of the R15m he is probably going to need to pay, and we only have 104 days to do it before the payment deadline, so please be generous.”

Donation levels include:

  • $5 – Chicken for the chicken run
  • $10 – FirePool noodle
  • $50 – Binocs for the amphitheatre

The campaign was launched on 1 April 2016, with the organiser stating that when donations close, users can vote on how much money must go to Zuma, and how much must go to a local home for HIV-positive kids which has been selected as a beneficiary.
